Chester’s senior netball squad secured their 2nd promotion in 2 years after competing at the annual play-offs at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield.

After a tough season in Prem 3, which saw the team travelling the length and breadth of the country and nursing a few injuries along the way, the team finished 3rd in the league and secured a place to play for promotion.

The Saturday saw them compete against old league rivals Sussex Storm. They knew it would be a very tough match as they had one win and one loss during the season. The first quarter was nip and tuck with the teams level at quarter time but Chester showed their class and some amazing interceptions and some of the super fast play that Chester are becoming known for, saw them take an impressive lead and eventually secure their first victory.

The team entered the second day knowing that they had to beat Prem 2 Grange Town. As expected, it was a very physical match with both teams working hard defensively. However, Chester kept their cool and won the match 44-30.

Chester had already secured promotion to Prem 2, but their competitive nature meant that they wanted to finish the day with another win. They faced Premier Romans (another Prem 2 team), in the final match. Chester struggled in the first quarter, but pulled it back in the second. Some changes were made going into the third quarter and Chester steadied themselves and fought back and went into the final quarter drawing 26-26. A thrilling final quarter saw Chester edge ahead to win 33-31!

Congratulations to all of the players and coaches. Check out the full match reports:
